Ninjas. No contest. They're simply way cooler than pirates. Plus, if you had a ship of ninjas versus a ship of pirates, the ninjas would win by a mile. They have nunchucks, swords, and throwing stars, while pirates just have wimpy guns. Besides, half of the pirates are missing one eye! There goes their depth perception!

I'd so rather be a pirate though. I mean come on. These guys get all the booty they want and they spend all their time hanging out with their friends. Ninjas spend all their time doing boring things like meditating. I'd rather sail the seven seas in search of fresh booty than sit quietly, alone, waiting for someone to piss me off so I can kill an entire town.

I'll admit, being a ninja would be cool, but being a pirate would be cooler.

With the exception of ninja pirates, I vote pirates. The real question is; Vampire pirates vs. Robot ninjas?

Aww Man. This was way too hard. They both have so much going for them. I voted Ninjas but I think If I was being truly honest I'd have gone with Pirates.

Yeah, well, 'ninja pirates' would obviously be the ideal choice - i.e. *not* having to 'make' a choice, but instead having it *all*.

(That's generally the way I make shopping decisions. Choice between two equally-appealing, high-quality items? "Oh, hey, I'll buy *both*!" - no question about it. )

But wrt ninjas vs. pirates:

~Ninjas have far superior physical skills, in part because of practice, but mostly because their minds are *one* with their mission. So, they have a high probability of accomplishing their assigned task and surviving the ordeal to fight another day.

However, they are highly serious individuals who spend all their time either killing or thinking about killing. Does that sound like fun? What about 'quality of life' issues.

~Pirates have much more fun. They are more light-hearted, take life less seriously, live for the moment, spend their leisure time taking ocean voyages, visiting exotic tropical islands, and guzzling delicious rum drinks. Plus, what he said above - raping and pillaging as your day job, and only part-time work, at that. What's not to like?

Pirates don't necessarily have to kill people, or at least, not very many. And even then, it's more or less a fair fight. Whereas the sole job of ninjas is to act as assassins. It's kind of like a honeybee vs. a black widow spider. The bee ravages flowers, takes what they have, but leaves them alive, pollinated and potentially fruitful. The black widow, with her shiny, bulbous, menacing body, sucks the life fluids from her prey, leaving only a dry shell.

Oh, yeah. Pirates are cool.

(Plus, picture Errol Flynn in those old movies like 'Captain Blood'? Oh YEAH! )

Although the Erol Flynn pirate version sounds more appealing than the ninja life style, I assume the real pirates life was a bit less funny (e.g. skurvy, being on a ship for weeks with only a bunch of unwashed other guys etc.). So I chose ninja.

I'm sorry, pirates are so naff. Just look at Pugwash, and those crappy pirates who always got beaten up in Roger Ramjet.

So ninjas for me.

Ninjas can be ninjas anywhere but pirates need a ship for them to be real pirates, otherwise they look like a bunch of, well, you know...blouse wearing sandy bottoms, with their striped shirts and hankie hats.

I mean...buccaneer boots...really now.

Thar might be a lot of raping on the high seas but is it really the kind you are thinking of?

At least Ninjas get geisha girls and get to wear all black and throw shuriken. Sweet.

Okay, pirates are straightforward and whole-hearted kinds of individuals.

Ninjas are sly, sneaky introverts. I mean, really. Which kind of person would you *actually* like to be around?

Oh, and nice, leather buccaneer boots.... ....sounds mighty good ta me.

And the scurvy thing? Hey, guys, aren't we supposed to be looking at this choice in a romanticized kinda way? Well, anyway, that's the way I've been looking at it.

Ninjas don't fight fair. They sneak in at night when people are sleeping and kill them then. Okay, I admire the physical prowess of ninjas. But I'd take the courage of a samurai warrior over that of a ninja any day. From the movies I've seen, ninjas have always secretly scared the hell out of me. They're silent, unseen, relentless. The stuff of nightmares. *shiver* Oops. Make that 'shiver me timbers'.

I voted Ninjas because of my love of Japanese culture..
I don't think Ninjas are sneaky or introverted once you understand them..

However, it has to be said Johnny Depp did a lot for the image of pirates in my mind. If every pirate was as Johnny portrayed them then it would be a Pirate's life for me me harties...

Brad did hit the nail on the head with Ninja Pirates..
Can we add that to the poll?

No, because that would make it too easy! I mean come on, if you had to choose between ninja, pirate, and ninja pirate, who would possibly pick one of the first two options?

Oh well, I'll throw in a link: www.ninjapirate.com

EDIT: God DAMN it Brad, can any poll go on without you skewing the results? I mean jesus, it was funny the first couple times but now it's just ridiculous.

Fetch you some beers, huh? Yeah, I'll fetch you some beers, alright. *seethes*

And, no, I wouldn't dispatch you quickly and easily with a mere knife in the back or a walk of the plank. I think something nice and slow would be in order. Muahahaha.

You know, one of those old swashbuckler movies actually *did* have a female pirate. Can't remember what the name of the film was, but I believe she did have red hair.
