Sorry if this is a basic question but when I opened my Mac Pro about a month or 2 ago to install some more RAM I noticed that the extreme amount of dust that gathers in my room (I am constantly cleaning that tiny dorm room!!!) has gathered in large amounts in my Mac Pro. I was wondering what is the best way to clean the inside of the Mac Pro? I have an air compressor that I could use to blow the dust out but I didn't know if there was a better way to do it or if this was not a smart thing to do. I know that the vacuum is a no no because of static electricity....right? Thanks again for any suggestions and advice about how to clean it out.

Compressed Air, Compressor, Vacuum. All will work.

Thanks for a quick response! The vacuum is safe to use? I had always heard not to use the vacuum, because of the static charges that build up sometimes using it.

i would just go to a local store and get a can of compressed air.

Yeah, I've always used compressed air to blow the dust out of computers.

To help mitigate the ensuing mess, either (a) do the cleaning outdoors, or (b) have a vacuum nearby to suck up the dust as it flies about. Don't make contact between the vacuum and the computer to be safe, but it might be handy to have a vacuum around if you're concerned about the quantities of dust you'll be relocating.

Thanks. I was planning on doing it outside so I might just have my shop vacuum out there nearby to vacuum the big stuff out (from a distance) and then blow the rest out.

I imagine he has some great ideas for cleaning the inside of a Mac Pro.
