I use Dictionary.app nearly everyday, for US English at least. So, is it possible to have more than one language?? I'd like to have Australian English, British English, and Spanish. It must be possible. Or if I could at least get my hands on the language's files (as in British.lprog, Australian.lprog, etc) I could replace the files in Dictionary.app as I want, if I wanted.

I believe I installed it with British, Australian, Spanish, and some others, though my main language is US English. So since that technique of switching them seems sensible, where can I find the language files/the .dict files on my computer?, under what directory? (Unless the .dict file is only there in correspondance to the main language of the computer... Would they be accessible on the OS X CDs? )

There are no non-English dictionaries for Dictionary. At least mine didn't ship with any.

Oh, really?... Then is it only the English-Oxford Dictionary? No variants as in British and Australian?

Code:
ataraxy:~ chucker$ ls -1 /Library/Dictionaries/ New Oxford American Dictionary.dict Oxford American Writers Thesaurus.dict
That's all I see, anyway.

'Mmm.... Well, your system is installed in American English though, no? I think I'll search the CDs.

EDIT: On the Install CD, there's only English in the "OxfordDictionaries.pkg".

Incidentally, my comment is no longer correct — they added a lot more dictionaries over time.

I hope over about 15 years they've added some!

You see, spambots serve a purpose.
