I have been looking for a good customer database program for my business but I'm also looking for a good bar code scanner. I've seen quite a few available but most of all I'm looking for the best software to use it with?
For now I'm using Quickbooks Pro for Windows as my inventory program so if I get something that interfaces with that it would be great but it seems Quickbooks out of the box doesn't do that. I am also hoping to switch to the Mac version of Quickbooks but am worried I'll have a harder time finding a scanner solution.
What I will use this for is reading in new inventory when it comes in and also scanning it as it is shipped out.

Here is this barcode program, but it works with Filemaker. I have personally never used it, but Ive had it bookmarked for awhile for my compnay incase I went the barcode route.

That does look like a nice program. Thanks, even though I didn't ask.

We have a few barcode readers in work, and I don't think you really need any software - don't they just send the scanned digits as if they had been typed on a keyboard?

OK, I have given up keeping this sig up to date. Lets just say I'm the guy that installs every latest version as soon as its available!

Yeah, that's how most work. In general, if you buy a USB-based barcode scanner, it'll work automatically. I've used them on my MacBook before, and I've never installed drivers.

In fact, I don't know of any that don't work that way.

Seems this software would come in handy if you want to create bar codes though. That would be nice for my business.
