My Dad snapped this picture of an ad for a professional recording "studio" as we drove around on Father's Day and I'm thinking about going in to record something. Any suggestions? Anybody else want to cut an album with me? Let's talk.

I met a 24 year old virgin who looks like a super model and just happens to have won the lottery, on myspace the other day... We are meeting downtown later today to discuss our future..

She asked me to bring my car, and all my travel documents, and credit cards in case we decide to elope together...

How lucky am I?

It says "of"...just a more-ornate-than-usual "f" there. You'd know this if you'd stop drinking so much.

I must admit I wondered why there was a typo in the thread title.. I simply read the 'f' as an 'f' on the sign.

/sarcasm But now that everyone knows that the 'r' is actually an 'f' it puts a completely new twist on the advert board itself. The design. The clever way the graphics draw you in. I think they hired Sache & Sache for that, didn't they? I am sure gonna get ma albuum recorded thar! Yes, Sireee, Bob! /sarcasm

I could have sworn that that f was actually the logo for prince.

I like you, farenheit. When I just typed that, I realized that your user name is missing the "h."

Well now that we have figured out it is indeed an 'f', I'm sure we can all agree that it's a great sign for a state of the art recording studio.

There's a town not far from here with this gas station and store, and I chuckle every time I read the sign for the "CONVIENCE STORE".

I also just got in an argument with a sign guy for spelling BOXES wrong on a sign of ours. They had it BOX'S.

Sign people are stupid dummies.

So Scratt, you're in for this album? I think it's going to "Rock".

Totally. And I've got your backing band right here, ready to lay it down.

These guys come to rock hard, kick ass and chew bubble gum. And they're all out of bubble gum.

BTW, I'll wager a hefty sum that I can guess out who plays what in that band...AND, most likely, the actual gear used (I'm seeing lots of Kramer, Dean, Laney, etc. in the lineup).

From left to right: drums (kinda going for the sunglasses Alex Van Halen vibe), the roundhead next to him is the bassist...there can be no question. The obvious stud of the band would be that feathered lead singer with the righteous 'do, second from right. The tall lanky fella sporting the deer-in-the-headlights look is the second coming of Eddie Van Halen (and gets the rejects from the singer).

Totally reminds of that sequence in "Boogie Nights" where Dirk and his buddy are in the recording studio, laying down some great tunes. The movie is worth it for that scene alone.

It gives me confidence and hope. Just means they spent all their money on righteous gear and the latest technology. They had none left over for proper signage.

Well, that's ONE way to look at it...

Well isn't it enough that they went ahead and sprung for TWO colors for the sign. What does a sharpie run these days?

Plenty because they had to cut their budget after that purchase.

I like how drewprops is so unwilling to advertise someone else's services for free that he Photoshopped out the telephone number on the sign!

Probably just didn't want some of our more mischievous members (hello, Canada!) calling to harass this poor guy...booking fake studio time, asking if he knows Def Leppard and ZZ Top, if there's a private "groupie room" available, quality of drugs, etc.

Could you be any more obvious about thinking I'm a hooligan, Paul? I don't know, I'm asking.

Actually I thought it was funny that Drew rubbed that out, while sticking in a huge SPAM URL at the bottom.

That's GOT to be ban-worthy.

Oh, it just seems like something you'd do. Am I right or am I wrong?!?

"Hooligan" in the best, most entertaining way possible, of course.

I *totally* blanked out the number to keep you guys from calling them and booking time with them. I pulled the photo from my 'blog because I'm layzeee and because I didn't want you swipin' my sweet professional studio hookup, yo?

I need that program they use in CSI. I'd like hit about 40 keys on my keyboard, then click my mouse, and the number would pop out perfectly zoomed in huge and at like 200 dpi.

Damn, what's that program called.

EDIT: Damn, I totally like forgot about this poster.

BTW I *totally* hereby call putting an asterisk on either side of a word "Kickaha-ing" a word.

We all totally copy him when we do that. Lemmings. Buncha lemmings.

Hey now, I've, like, *totally* been doing the asterisks since doing BBS geek chat on Compuserve back in the pre-GUI 80's!!! But I like the idea of sticking it on Kick because he's a great posterchild for geekery!

So who's been working on our album? Anybody?

Great poster.

Though, one would expect that an Academy of Linguistic Awareness wouldn't feature a comma splice in the most prevalent sentence on the poster.

There's more than that. Read the poster a little, like, closer. Like, the name.

Looks like they have the same IT person we have - the one who likes to change the default settings on spell checker and not tell anyone.

And I thought the *...* around a word was called a *Windswept*? What does this practice imply exactly?
