i got trouble to connect to the internet
got a asdl router made the password and login into the system preference network, built in ehtenret and so on but it does not work, may be i just forget the simplest thing to do? IMAC G5 - since 2004 december never forget that day - 1,8 ghz 20inch, 1gb memory, 160 gb harddrive |

If you have an ADSL router (with built-in ADSL modem I presume) you need to enter the ADSL connection username/password etc into the router itself - check the router documentation for how to do it.
The whole point of having a router is that the router connects to the internet by itself then machines in your home/office connect to the router for internet access. There should be no internet/PPPoE setup required on your client machines (i.e. the iMac). The iMac will be set up to automatically get an IP address from the router using DHCP. I don't have a Mac at the office so can't tell you how to set that up (memory not good enough)... maybe someone else can help there... |
