I'm thankful:

~ that my brother wasn't more seriously injured in a recent motorcycle accident; that he has good health insurance that has provided him with excellent care; that many, many colleagues from his work have donated some of their sick days for him so that he can continue to recover and regain his physical fitness.

I 'personally' am always grateful for a few very basic things:

~ that I had responsible parents who provided me with a good education and a decent upbringing

~ that I live in a country where I am free to make the most of whatever talents I may have

~ that those who know me the best love me very much

I hope some of you will share a few of the things for which you are particularly grateful at this time of year.

Thanks for any replies.

~ I'm done. (Did you really think this wasn't going to be number one? :})

~ Friends and family who have supported me through all of it.

~ The mole wasn't cancerous... just dysplastic. Oops! Just got the followup call, I'm heading in to surgery this afternoon to have the surrounding tissue excised... wheeeee!

Later dudes!

I don't have some things that I want, but relativistically, that really doesn't matter because I have more than enough things that I do want, or that I don't even know that I want but need. Which is a roundabout way of saying, I'm thankful for life, the universe, and everything.

I'm thankful I haven't yet been caught for all of the stupid things I've done this semester (knock on wood), and I'm thankful that my Powerbook continues to function beautifully

I couldn't say it any better than Carol did. Those three exact things apply to me as well...every one.

I was "raised right", I can pursue anything I want and I've got some amazing friends and family by my side...I know I'm never alone.

For those, I am extremely thankful and happy.

Everything beyond that is simply icing.

~ I have such a great best friend now!

~ My career and social life are back on track.

~ I was able to lose about 40 pounds of fat this past year and get in shape.

You need to fix your link.

Oh, and that last photo ('sweet, sweet belly rubs') is great.

Yeah, I had the same situation. I had a mole that they took out, which was then found to be only dysplastic. I too had to go in and get the then-newly-formed scar taken out, to make sure that they got all the cells. Not fun.

I am thankful that it was only dysplastic though...

OK, I'll bite.

~ Yes, yes, yes. Unfortunately, my brother has not been too keen on taking their advice, and it hurts to watch for so many reasons.

~ Sometimes I wonder, as the tech industry gets increasingly squelched under its own greed and patenting frenzy.

~ This was true last year. This year, all I have is my parents.

But despite my generall aire of depression, there are a couple I'd like to highlight:

~ Having a well-paying job. There are a lot of other people who need this but don't have it.

~ Having food on the table. Again, it's a luxury we often don't appreciate.

~ Having a roof over my head. It's my parents' house, but there are a lot of people, both in this country and otherwise, who can't say this. Especially those from the New Orleans area.

Thanksgiving is always such a somber holiday for me. Sigh.

Apparently I call the cops when I see people litter.

Eek! Yikes!

Good luck with that!

Maybe ask for some painkillers this time.

Also, there's a cream called something like 'Mesoderma' (available at Costco) that helps reduce/eliminate the appearance of scars.

Gotta keep those long, sexy legs scar-free. heh

I hear that cattle are very resilient when it comes to scarring.

I wanted to find that ad/poster with the three cows holding signs that say:

"Eat mor chikin."

I seem to remember that they were standing upright and displaying a nice show of legs. Non-scarred bovine legs.

Edit:

http://www.shopchickfila.com/index.c...m/catalogid/43

(Thanks for the link, BuonRotto )

(Question: Hmmm. Are the back, lower-legs of cows called... calves? )

(Does scratt still think of 'bovine porn' when *exposed calves* are mentioned? )

Okay, I'll try to quit being silly.

I'm grateful to everyone for not banning me from this forum, for being an extremely drunk (most of the time) Apple lover who talks shit.

Thanks guys and Gals

- A new job that actually pays well

- Family. Specifically my grandparents, although this may be the last Thanksgiving for some of them I'm truly grateful for each day I get to spend with them.

- A new car...although it's not coming for another month or so, but I'm excited about it so I'm putting it on my Thanksgiving list

- Being so blessed. I don't know why, but God chose to give me an incredible life. It constantly baffles me as to why, because I certainly don't deserve it. I hit tough times just the same as everyone else, but for some reason, I just keep kicking. I guess I'm just thankful to be alive.

Sure you deserve an incredible life, Sammy.

You are a nice, open-minded, friendly, genuine, generous, happy-hearted, positive kind of person.

You deserve all the good things that come your way.

Just 'my' thoughts on the matter.

Thanks a lot Carol, I'll never quite see it that way. I just don't understand why some people have such bad things happen to them and I've been blessed with such opportunity and ability.

I certainly appreciate the kind words though, thanks, happy thanksgiving.

Get out of my head!

Indeed, I often complain about misfortune only to kick myself realizing that what's "misfortune" for me would be dreams come true for others. Hmm.

Have a happy Thanksgiving, all.

Hmm... what could I not be thankful for?

-Jesus

-loving, supporting family

-cute, beautiful girlfriend with great sense of humor

-making up with my best friend last week, after our relationship was (seemingly) irreparably ruined a month ago

-2 guinea pigs

-great classes in school with awesome people

-Apple

-the whole lot of you at AppleNova

You ask me for a hamburger.

Hmm... among other things, I am thankful...

~ That I have a job that pays the bills well, and that I get to be full time soon
~ That I've been able to get my own place and finally have a life of my own apart from the small town, small mind attitude that I was subjected to when I lived with my parents
~ That I have a wonderful girlfriend, with whom I am extremely happy
~ That my mother is finally doing something she loves
~ That I don't lack anything I need
~ That I won't be going full-time at school any more (grades be damned, I'm almost done)
~ That I'm experiencing a sort of personal spiritual renewal
~ That I know you wonderful 'Nova types

Simple things, mainly...

Health

The ability to stop and take in a beautiful sunrise or sunset (live in a semi-rural area where there are a lot of 'em)

My Better Half

Good Family and Friends...

...no more lockout.

- That I still have a job in these downsizing days
- That I'm now happily married for over 10 years (with the same woman
- That my fathers blood tests showed that the cancer threat was a false alarm
- That I'm able to write on things which I'm grateful for on an internet message board instead of working 16 hour shifts in a sweat shop

Health, healthy children,

healthy wife, healthy sisters, father and mother, and health insurance. And lots of love.

Moolah, friends, a safe place to live, a nice home, opportunities...

Luck, too.

Okay, a few more things:

~ To chime in with what several others have mentioned, I feel really grateful that I have been able to get to know some unbelievably *fantastic* people all over the world via the internet. Technology may have our 'bodies' sitting in front of a machine, but it enables our minds and hearts to travel the world and be forever enriched by contact with those in other lands and other cultures. I feel privileged to be a mod at AppleNova, and to get to know some of the smartest, most articulate people on the planet - who just *happen* to be our members.

~ I'm grateful that the grass in my front yard is enviably lush and green, that the landscaping I designed is the most attractive in the neighborhood and that all my neighbors are jealous - haha ( ), and that the oranges on my tree in the backyard are starting to ripen. I'm grateful that housing values have been skyrocketing, and that my neighborhood looks better now than it ever did, despite a recent influx of new homebuyers.

~ I'm grateful that my car seems to be running really well (after some recent very costly maintenance expenditures ), and that I'll feel confident enough to take it on some pretty decent roadtrips over the next 8 months or so, until I buy a new one.

My flat, my job, my health (for now).

It makes me sad that I did not get things right with my ex-girlfriend. However, I hope that she is happier now without me and that I will learn from my mistakes.
