Who do you folks use for web registrars at this point in time and how reliable do you think they are?
Some of the old standards have transformed into horrible experiences, especially costs for renewal. ... |

I have been using register.com for 15 years, since the days when I was doing web development and hosting numerous clients. I won't say they're the cheapest outfit out there, but in my experience they have been super easy to work with. No-hassel transfers, renewals, etc. I've never lost a domain, likely because they start hassling me when an expiration gets close.

I've been happy with Namecheap for the last few years. It has always been easy to work with and has straightforward no-nonsense tools that look like they were actually created this decade.

Hover has been advertising like crazy over most of the podcasts that I listen to.
I haven't registered anything in years, but that is one I'd look into if I had to. No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

Timely thread! I have a couple that need to be renewed this month and I've been half-heartedly looking for alternatives, so thanks Drew!
Namecheap's hosting looks decent as well. I need to move a site in the next week from a current host that's become unreliable, maybe I'll give them a whirl. Any recommendations on that side from anyone? So it goes. |

I have been using MacHighway for as long as Register.com. I have had a few minor email issues over the years, but the hosting service has been excellent. They also serve as a registrar, so a one-stop shop, if you like.
Prices are reasonable, service has been very good (no outages that I can recall), and customer service is quick and painless. Very good folks. - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. I still use GoDaddy as my registrar. For hosting I actually still really like my old employer, InMotion Hosting's VPS offerings.
I do manage all my DNS though Hurricane Electric though. This makes for easy custom name server hostnames and me to have total control of DNS.
