Hi all,

Recently, the G3 iMac that my parents have been using has begun to turn off unpredictably. I did some research and discovered that I need to do a firmware update on it. Only thing is, I need OS 9 to do this.

This is the second G3 iMac I've owned. I did the firmware update on the first model (and then removed OS9), but with this model I obviously forgot to do the firmware update and just did a clean install of Panther - removing OS 9 in the process.

Any ideas as to how one can legally get a hold of OS 9 these days. And, dare I ask, if you only need it for the firmware update (after which it will be deleted) do you think an Apple Store will be kind enough to do it for free?

Cheers.

Your best bet is ebay or check around at local schools to see if they have any old copies laying around.
