How do I restart iCloud Drive without rebooting? I know a reboot resolves this, but how about just the service itself. I'm also not going to uncheck the box in iCloud preferences and then recheck it. All that does is start and stop the service anyway. DuckDuckGo has not been helpful. macOS 12.3.1, standard settings outside of that. It has to be. Everything is just a running process. Processes can be restarted without rebooting the whole OS. The problem is which process and is there a specific order.
I'm going to end up rebooting at some point this weekend, but I only reboot the MBP once a month or so at most. Code:
Quicksilver:Desktop tony$ uptime
8:41 up 45 days, 18:49, 11 users, load averages: 2.64 2.47 2.35 Louis L'Amour, “To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. ** CAUTION **
Try unchecking the box in iCloud settings. Wait 5 minutes, then recheck the box. Make sure you are solidly backed up before you do this! iCloud is gonna wanna nuke your local stuff. - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. I wonder if you could kill it in Activity Monitor (or at least see if its non-responsive) and then resume by uncheck/recheck in prefs. I see a 'cloudd' process running in my Activity Monitor that's probably it. Some of those little bastards restart all by themselves after being killed so you might not even have to toggle the check box.
So it goes. |

That's actually a good idea. Although try restarting after you kill the process — before you check any boxes.
And another thought would be to click one of the little cloud "download" icons in the iCloud folder. Maybe that would jumpstart things? - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. You are the man 709! I was looking for "icloudd" or something like that.
Killed "cloudd" in Activity Monitor and it restarted all by itself. I checked my iPad and files appeared in folders I expected to be there. Why does Apple make it so hard for this kind of thing?
