I just got the Battlefield 2 Demo for XBox and I really cant stop playing the damn thing!
If anyone has XBox (and XBox live cuz theres no singleplayer demo), go out and get this month's Official Xbox Magazine, which comes with the disc.
I can't wait for the real game which will be on XBox 360.
If you like FPS's you need to go get this demo!

It is one of the few things I do on a PC.

I have the demo on my PC. I think it's great, but I don't see it working well on consoles (too many commands, not enough buttons).

The game is great (have it on my PC) except for one glaring fault. GameSpy is in charge of the multiplayer engine. That hurts. The engine for that is so pathetic that I would honestly rate Quake1's better than it. It won't: Sort by ANYTHING properly (ping, name, etc, etc); Search function is non-functional; connection times are ridiculously long. The only good thing is that it has a fast refresh. Other than that, once you are able to find and join a server (a 20 minute affair most of the time), the game is AWESOME.

Agreed.
The game itself is fantastic, but the server browser is so horribly designed and implemented.

Luckily, there's a BF2 Autoloader that just came out (look here, about halfway down the page).
I'm on the other side of the country from my gaming machine, but my friends report that it works as advertised:
  • Allows you to join easily and rapidly the same server as your friends.
  • Keeps a list of your favorite server.
  • "Auto-Join" feature when a room is free on the server.
Can't wait to get home to try it.

My one son and I are ready to give it up online till some of the bugs in the game play are fixed. The whole TK issue is enough, let alone the ranked server issues. As for the game browser I could actually live with that for awhile if these other problems get fixed.
