Well, I live in CT and we got pretty lucky. Storm was delayed and did not hit my house until 5 PM (allowing my wife and I to do our Christmas shopping without disruption) and ended sometime over night. Storm seemed to track below CT and over Long Island so we only got 9.5". Parts of Long Island are reporting 20" and out our vacation home in Rhode Island, they are reporting 24-25".

Of to clean up the mess now. . . .Here are some pictures:

Love the house, the SUV gives a good snapshot of the depth of fall, and the labs look peeved

Have 5 drivers (soon to be 6) in the house so you have to have a lot of SUVs: X6, Rx400h and Sequoia (plus a old 2001 Boxster S that never sees the road on days like today.)

Both dogs are Labs; Golden is 9 years old (Thor) and does not like the cold weather and the Black is just under 2 years old (Bailey) and loves the snow--still a pup at heart.

Got about 8" here, not too bad. Long Island got blanketed though.

They're reporting 22.5" in Philly over the past two days. It's crazy.

I've got my 4 wheel drive Explorer being a beast though. This shit is nothing.

No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now.

We're about to get walloped with sleet, snow and up to 1/3" of ice tonight, maybe more tomorrow. I mention it only because the ice part is very rare for this far north, especially this time of year. Then strong showers Thursday night, then snow again Friday... a few degrees colder then they predict and we're looking at a blizzard so I don't know what the hell to expect right now. All I know is I won't be driving anywhere tonight or tomorrow afternoon and my wife needs to get the hell home now before she gets stuck in this crap!

Yeah, I've been watching that creep over this way too. Just keep it over on your side of the Lake until tomorrow night...gots to get to Deetroit City before the roads turn to glass!

So it goes.

You're hosed dude. It's a big system... already on the MI border and creeping ever more north, like the blob.

We're getting a steady diet of rain, sleet, and freezing rain in Chicago right now. It's as unpleasant as it sounds :/

I just checked the 3-day forecast, and it's just continued cloudy, dreary skies and then 30-40% chance of rain on Christmas day. Whoop-ee.

It's currently 53 degrees.

But it sounds like Chicago and other places are about to get it.

I'm sure this is too late, but traffic sucks everywhere around here right now. Traffic reports are saying almost 2 hours to get from O'Hare to downtown (a 20 minute trip at most with no traffic.) Good luck and drive safe!

Come waste your time with me

Is that sort of discrimination even legal? What if MBHockey is a boring drip...is he not eligible to buy?

Haha. Well I made it, left about 35 minutes after I posted. The worst part was actually getting out of Wisconsin, our drivers are so stupid and challenged. Chicago freeways were just wet, but the traffic was heavy. I stopped in Indiana for gas and saw two people fall on the ice - it was glorious.

I'm in Kalamazoo now - at a mcdonalds. Yuk!

The front of my GTi is covered in ice, and there was Tons of people in the ditch, I lost count after 7.

Haha, I dunno maybe "the 94" is some sort of 'sconny thing.

My favorite is the meteorologists who suggest the following set of conditions for tomorrow afternoon...

100% chance of precipitation, heavy at times, temperatures dropping to 28 after noon, continuing into the evening, total accumulations less than an inch (?!).

Last time I checked that's a recipe for heavy snow around these parts. And in fact there's a 60+% chance through the weekend as temps stay low. Stuff like this totally throws the meteos because they don't know whether we're going to get 2" of rain or 2' of snow (because they can't predict temps in these stalled systems more than a few hours in advance). I'm a little worried because we're in ice dam territory here. Gutters are full and frozen over already... been a rainy sleet all day but some melting. Heavy rain tonight as well temps up to 37. Hopefully that's enough to melt things a bit before the unpredicted 1' of snow arrives tomorrow afternoon.

8" of snow last night, supposed to snow for the next 3 days as well. Glad I took the time this fall to take apart the snow blower and give it a good cleaning. Fired it up and it ripped through the waist high snow at the end of the driveway like a champ.

That is classic. I bet Chinney and Murbot get that much snow every now and then.

Our rain disappeared Christmas night and we've have maybe 9" where I live since then. Still snowing lightly.

Looks like our respite is finally over.

The rain melted all our snow only to have the Ontario snow machine start to fire up. Only a foot expected this time. Time to finally fire up the snow blower.

Which part of Ontario are you? The rain just ruined my skiing weekend up in Collingwood.

Contrary to what some may believe I live in Syracuse, NY, not Ottawa or any other Canadian locale.

Firmly within the Lake Ontario snowbelt.

Although I did take a small respite in moving to Old Town, Maine for three years.

Supposed to be raining here in CT but now they are calling for 3" of new snow. Longer term we are looking to get hit again on Saturday/Sunday. We have already more snow this year than last year.

So much for global warming. . . .

We've had snow lying on the ground here for almost 3 weeks. That's completely unprecedented. We had to close at work 3 hours early last Sunday due to the foot of snow that landed, and the local council didn't have any gritters out. It's still bad in the town I work - the largest multi-storey car park is still closed due to snow - 4 days after the last big snow fall.

A white Christmas was great, but I'm really getting sick of it now!
