I'm having a problem with the Auto-update since i moved to China, in that it is dreadfully slow. i'm getting about 2k/sec, which is the normal speed for downloading across the ocean. When i downloaded a MS update (for office) on this computer it was at least 10x as fast, telling me it was from a local site on this side of the pond. I'm wondering if there is anyway to assign a mirror site to download from or if there is anything i can do to speed up these downloads.
Besides just being impatient, when i am downloading something, i can't walk away from the computer because our kitten has taken to lying on the keyboard if it is open...something about the warmth i believe...so i don't like to leave it open for hours on end. Is there any other way I can get these updates or is there a way to assign a mirror site? i'm using the newest version of Tiger... |
