I'm wondering if anyone else has observed the odd behavior of VTP returning your own posts as unread that you just submitted prior to clicking on VTP.

Generally I assume that is because someone may have had posted above me, after I viewed the thread but before I submitted my post. But this only happens approximately half of the time.

Other half, I scroll up and everything seems to be exactly identical prior to my submission yet the thread is flagged as unread with seemingly no new content other than my own post.

Or should I just chalk this up to my computer gnomes?

nope, same here. I thought it is something weird with the browser, but happens with both firefox and safari.

Considering it's a server-side software issue, no, it's not gonna be okay in IE 6.

What? You want vBulletin to assume that you've read your own posts?! I know I don't my read own posts before submitting them or when they first appear in the thread. It's all stream of consciousness, baby!

The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. The only way to guarantee thoughtful, informative discussion is to write thoughtful, informative posts. AppleNova is not a real-time chat forum. You have time to compose messages and edit them before and after posting.

Ok, the issue here is consistency, or lack thereof.

If it consistently returned my own posts as unread, fine. But that's not the behavior I'm getting here. It's "sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't", which is kind of confusing.

But hey, if you can come up with a code snippet that enables vBulletin to read my mind, it'd be flying fucking great!

Well, maybe you're sometimes reading your own posts and sometimes you're not and it's making its best guess!
