Absolutely incredible. I don't understand how he funded his hobby. Seems to me this is something that the Library of Congress or a Museum should jump on. It's a priceless collection in my opinion. I'm surprised no rich musician has jumped on it yet. Seems like the ultimate rock star excessive purchase.... to own ALL MUSIC! |

That's...ridiculous...
I really don't have any other words for it. I wish I had the money to toss on that, and furthermore, the amount of time to listen to it. At least most of it. Makes me wonder just what is in the collection. Authentic Nova Scotia bagpipe innards |

That's extremely impressive. I can't imagine having to move all that after buying it, though. (Obviously the buyer will be wealthy and can pay someone to move it, but that's still a hell of a job.)

It just ended at US $3,002,150.00. I doubt a lot of Champagne will be flowing.
The whole thing is ridiculous, though. This is collecting for the sake of collecting, and nothing else. From the description: "About half of the recordings are new and never played" - little wonder, the amount of time to listen to all that simply doesn't fit into a single person's life. But reading further, I can't help but think this thing is fishy. Quote:

That's great. Out of all of that, he probably has countless one of a kind records and incredibly rare records as well. Very cool to see someone go through the effort to actually preserve and catalogue it all.

Elton John used to buy every record that came out.
I bought every picture sleeve 45 that came out between 1973 and the single's demise in the 80's. I have them in giant grates in my climate controlled basement bathroom. ![]() "What's a Canadian farm boy to do?" |

This is ridiculous... I wonder what genres of music does this collection hold? Why anyone should by the collection only because it is huge?
