That one developer, who took the name and overall look and is bragging on Twitter about what he’ll be pulling in from the $30/year fee…I’d sure hate for such a graceless twat to fall down some stairs or something. Yeah, there will always be slimy opportunists ready to grab and resell any good ideas. Honestly, I'm surprised there weren't paid/ad-filled clones being hawked sooner because a) it's an incredibly simple game (even I probably could have made a clone, and I'm shit with JavaScript), and b) there's already that free open-source infinitely-playable clone that Capella mentioned a couple pages back.

Fortunately I get the impression that Mr. Wardle never intended to make a business out of this game; he just made it for his partner and family and friends, and it happened to take off. He even explicitly stated in interviews that he didn't want to bloat it with social media hooks and ads and such. Genuinely good guy, from all appearances.

Got away with a less common French starter word today. Gonna try Italian tomorrow.

I used to play a game called Word Collect. Basically, a Boggle type game. But very prudish. Wouldn't recognize "rude" words at all even when they were perfectly legitimate words. So "spine" was acceptable but not "penis".

WTF… On my third and fourth guesses, I was simply trying to eliminate letters. I have a bunch of extra privacy settings in my browser (see also arkenfox's user.js), and apparently it also hides my local time zone from some things like this game, presenting the default GMT/±0. Fortunately, it crosses midnight in GMT when it's my 19:00, and that means I get slightly early access.
