I have just discovered that iTunes is able to manage PDF documents. I suppose that's focused on album leaflets, but hey, it's so useful for me as I have a ton of different PDF articles and books.

I'm pretty sure this has been in iTunes for a little bit now (meaning 4.7, possibly earlier).
