I'm watching the documentary King of Kong [wikipedia link] right now and am just beside myself. Sure, there are a lot of documentaries about people's weird obsessions, but this one is particularly funny to a child of the 1980s.

You can follow the link up above for all the information, but it's basically a soap opera about the longtime holder of the world record for the video game Donkey Kong and a new challenger, who was not part of the uber-gamer nerd culture... a real outsider. I highly recommend this documentary if you want to laugh and be amazed and.... and..... just wow.

I'm listening to the commetaries now and it's just plain funny.

I love documentaries that capture these tiny little dramas... they take on Shakespearean proportions.

King of Kong is epically tragic and (intentionally) hilarious in the most unintended ways. Absolutely fantastic. After I saw it, I told everyone around--just great.
