Is it normal for the PowerBook's USB/firewire ports to be wobbly, and have an audible metal-creaking sound, when the cables are moved up and down?

I think it's normal for them to be a bit wobbly - nothing is ever a perfect fit - but the creaking noise definitely isn't normal. That probably means something will break eventually in one of the ports, and that's a real pain to get fixed then. It would be a good idea to take your PB to get looked at.
