Sweet! Maybe there'll be a revival of sorts.

You know there is a open source version of Marathon Infinity out there on the net. I'm in class so I can't type much but check Macupdate.

Aleph One is a pretty sweet little piece of software. I have the Episode V pack for OS X - whatever it's called... when the guy goes back in time to the original Marahon.

...into the light of a dark black night.

Wow, this is awesome....I remember downloading Aleph One and playing through most of original Marathon. That was fun. I guess when I get some free time, I can finish off the trilogy.

I've heard of Marathon, but didn't own a computer at the time...

What's Anvil?

This is a pretty good overview is Marathon Infinity + Forge/Anvil. Forge appears to be a Marathon map editor, while Anvil is the physics/sound/weapon/thing editor. Basically, they let you rework the game and stuff. Looks pretty cool; I might try it out on an older Mac sometime.

Gotcha about Forge and Anvil. It helped for me to read their ReadMe's, too.

Booted up in Classic to try them out. I guess I'll have to give them more gametime, but I'll have to tweak the control settings to be less twitchy (guess that's what happens when 800 MHz is a lot higher clockspeed than they were originally written for.. lol).

For some reason these games with their graining texture maps and random squawking enemies scare the bejebus out of me even after all these years.

Rather than running them with Classic, I'd download the Aleph One program. Basically, it's the Marathon app updated for OS X/Windows/Linux/BeOS after Bungie got bought and the Marathon code was open sourced. So, it uses OpenGL and all kinds of cool new stuff like that. Just drop the Aleph One app into the Marathon folder, and it should work.

Just got all three of 'em for my PC. Set them all up each with their own little versions of Aleph One and gave them their appropriate icons too. I gotta try them now - I never figured out what to do with Aleph One when I tried it on my Mac a few months ago, but now that I have the full trilogy all ready to go hopefully it'll work out a little better.
