The gear just helps to capture what the eye has seen...
But since you asked:

Currently, I use a Nikon D70 with a Sigma 10-20mm, a Nikkor 18-70mm, Nikkor 50mm and a Nikkor 70-200 VR. I had a Nikkor 80-400 VR last year, but sold it when I got the 70-200 - couldn't afford both.

The travel pics (from the Wanderlust set) are done with an old (manual focus) Nikon FE-2 and some cheap 3rd party lenses (a 20mm Soligor, 28-80 Soligor and 70-210 Tokina). With many of those pics, I used a polarizing filter.
