If you've got the iPhone developer kit I guess you should check it out and tell us laymen what all the hype is about.

Excellent! It's about time Apple got their head out of their butt about this.

Sounds like the NDA is still in place for unreleased software, so rejection notices presumably would still be under wraps (since the software could still be classified as unreleased).

I believe "unreleased software" refers to (the APIs of) unreleased versions of iPhone OS, i.e. currently the 2.2 betas.

I think we'll need to see the new NDAs, before we'll know if rejection letters will still be covered. Those letters aren't "software", released or otherwise.
