Did it, got it, etc. Took about 6-7 minutes, start to finish (including iPhone reboot). All seems well.

My wife's been bitten twice by an inexplicably low battery. Looks like this (228MB!?!) update will cure her problem.

I've seen the poor battery monitoring issue on my 2gen Touch since I got it, I hope it fixes the problem.

Yeah, my Touch has the tendency of the battery meter to go down, then back up for a while. Annoying. Maybe this'll fix it.

Is the battery issue exclusive to the 3GS? From the notes posted by Quag it would seem so, but are there any chances it is affecting 3G iphones too?

I want to do this update, but not sure how it will affect my jailbreak. Anyone with a jailbreak update yet?

Some folks in Europe with unlocked phones are saying that the new iPhone OS re-enables the ability to tether through a mobileconfig, without jailbreaking. Has anybody using AT&T been able to use a mobileconfig with iPhone OS 3.1.3?

I've read that 3.1.3 specifically removes the vector used for jailbreaking. I would hold off on updating until you hear that the jailbreakers have found a way to crack the new OS.

Well, you go to http://help.benm.at/tethering.php on your iPhone, select your country and carrier. Download the mobileconfig file. I think that your iPhone will ask you if you want to use it. Say yes. Then re-start your iPhone. You should have an option to enable tethering in your network options. (This is from memory; forgive me if details differ.)

Since I don't seem to be having any battery meter issues, I'm probably going to stick with 3.1.2 till 4.0 is good 'n' stable. (4.0.1?) I just hope @geohot can be convinced to give 4.0 a shot; he's the only Jailbreaker with a focus on user experience.
