We've touched on this before and I'm no doubt a lazy b*st*rd, I've really only taken to Podcasts since iTunes 4.9 made it very easy. There are a couple of really great ones though. What's your favorite? My top five are :
1) MacCast 2) Peter Rojas on Engadget 3) Die Zeit 4) Adam Curry - Podfinder 5) Anything BBC To me, podcasting looks like technology which just changes daily behaviour - it's both useful and interesting. |

Well, so far, I only listen to one, but I really enjoy it. It's The Word Nerds by Dave Shepherd, Howard Shepherd, and Howard Chang.

Found this today. For those who want to search Podcasts for keywords and play that section of Podcast only. Still appears beta version but great idea - http://podscope.com/. If they could refine the voice recognition and combine with Google now that would be a product .......

I get a couple of Photoshop-oriented ones. I should investigate podcasts a bit more. I'm probably missing some really nice ones about topics I'm into (music, guitars, Macs, Adobe stuff, travel, movies, etc.).

I used to get the Engadget one, but it is now sadly defunct.
The one I like the best is Mark Kermode's Film Reviews with Simon Mayo. Although he always seems to be on bloody holiday! I also get the Jonathan Ross one as well. I've tried loads of others, but I just find them cringeworthy. EDIT: Oh, and the Talk Show with John Gruber and that other bloke. |

I have become podcast-addicted ever since I started on a nano and moved to an iPhone.
Twit: Macbreak Weekly, This Week in Tech, Windows Weekly, Leo the Tech Guy, Net at Night Buzz Out Loud Gadgettes Mac OS Ken - which is like the snarkier, Cliffnotes version of MacCast - though I usually don't complete his podcast, Adam is great, but I can't help feeling he's like a young Mr. Rogers. Achievement Junkie BBC-Kermode Movie Reviews Real Time with Bill Maher (it's pretty much the audio of the entire HBO show with some special features on the feed) Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me Countdown with Keith Olbermann 1up Yours Gamespot - Hotspot PCGamer Podcast |

Besides that? I cannot recommend more highly WFMU's Seven Second Delay, and you absolutely want to wander into some of the archives they have from the past fifteen years. It's a call-in show, technically, although they don't always get calls. Even (especially) when it's horrible, it's funny. When it's good it's funny. When it's average, it's still funny. Try it. CBC Radio 3 (Indie Canadian bands) KCRW's Martini Shot (Wry Commentry from a TV Writer) Filmspotting (Formerly Cinecast, Movies & Reviews podcast) CHUD Show (Movies & humour podcast, randomly but somewhat frequently) TeeVee Podcast (TV discussion, rather infrequently) The Ricky Gervais Show (Sorta done, but some special episodes once in a while—check out the (for-fee) archives, though. Comedy) Jupiter Research Conversations (Tech Industry Analysis. Very infrequent updates.) Radio Free Nintendo (Take a guess :) 1Up Yours (Videogame news & discussion) 1Up Retronauts (Classic videogames discussion) ABC Insiders (Australian Politics) SKy News Agenda (Also Australian Politics) TVO's Agenda (Canadian Politics & Current Affairs) CBC's The National: At Issue Panel (Canadian Politics) The Bloggers Hotstove (Canadian Politics, though it hasn't updated in a while) KCRW's Left, Right, and Center (American Politics) NPR's It's All Politics (American Politics, with a dash of humour) Slate's Gabfest (More American Politics) Finally, although it isn't a podcast, I believe the best radio show ever made is Just A Minute. It's a brilliant gameshow going back a number of decades and although the original players are (minus one) all dead, it's still nearly as fantastic. Check it, especially the archives. |
