When do you guys foresee 1080p being broadcast? By the time that it is finally broadcast over the air, do you think their will be a new definition standard already on the horizon? I see that the Mitsubishi 62525, which is a 62" 720p DLP is a fantastic deal on eBay, going for around 800 dollars if locally picked up. Would it be worth it to get the 1080p source?

Right now, there is little 1080p content. You'll be just fine with a 720p display, even if you do have a 1080p source, though I don't know of 1080p sources right now. I forget if Blu-Ray gives true 1080p output or the deinterlaced 1080i that HDDVD does.
IM(amateur)O, resolutions above 1080p probably aren't going to find much use in the consumer market. At the average distance regular displays are viewed from, it's benefits begin to fade away. 1080p is great for the front projector market, where screen-door can be a problem, but for regular sets, I don't think it's worth the money. Okay, I haven't really answered any of your questions on 1080p sources. Sorry about that. |

50 inches or bigger, 1080p might be noticeable. Under that size you really aren't seeing anything different from 720p at normal viewing distances.
As Ryan said, there really isn't enough content out there to justify going for 1080p right now. |
