To the parents:
http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/02/22/sc....ap/index.html Let her go, really. We know she's your daughter, but let her go. Especially when you're so screwed up that you can't see the hypocrisy in saying on the one hand that she, as a Roman Catholic, would want to follow the Pope's wishes... and then demand that she get divorced. Sad. Really, really sad. Stop torturing what's left of her, and let her just go. You're just making her body suffer needlessly, for your own selfish needs and inability to let go. That's just evil, regardless of whether you recognize it. |

yeah, the divorce demand really flies in the face of "we're good catholics".

I am not even sure that they are necessarily following the Pope's wishes. I thought the Catholic Church's views were a bit more nuanced than this family portrays. I am pretty sure that the Pope has indicated that extreme measures to artificially extend life are not in accordance with faithful practice. I am not sure where a feeding tube for a vegetative state comes down in their teachings, but I am not entirely confident that this family would have the Church on their side. That might just be their claim....

This is sickening. I understand people are reluctant to let their loved ones go but this is sick. It's really sad when family mistakes facial reflexes for actually communication. She's long gone-just let her freaking body go.
The most depressing thing is that she got in this state as a result of an eating disorder and now she's being forced alive by a feeding tube. |
