I'm not too keen on adding other stuff to my system unless I know what it does. Please "dumb it down for me".
You should download xAct, which will decode the shorten or SHN format as well as the FLAC format - both of which are used for lossless compression of tradable live recordings.

Thanks FFL - I would not have known what to start looking for. This has opened up a whole new "legal" world to me! Very grateful.

You're gonna get smacked, you know that?

Southern Pacific, as in the country-rock band with members from the Doobie Brothers (John McFee and the drummer) and Stu Cook, CCR's old bassist?

THAT Southern Pacific? They had some hits in the late 80's/early-mid 90's on country radio (and a few videos in the early days of CMT), but I haven't thought of them in forever. They had an AWESOME song called "Killbilly Hill", with the most amazing guitar work. This was around 1988 or so, and it was of the songs that specifically made me interested in country guitar playing (using my right-hand fingers in addition to the pick, wild-ass string bending - two at one time, in different directions -, etc.. That song set me on a path, no doubt!

Yes, that's the Southern Pacific. They did a really great cover of a doo-wop song "Go to Pieces" and although it's not characteristic of their sound, it's very cool. Great band.

Just found this website

Downloading some live shows including

Explosions in the sky
Mogwai
God speed you black emporer

For the free lossless audio codec files (FLAC) you need a decoder found

here

I then transfered the .wav files into itunes, converted to AAC then bingo. Some live shows of my fav bands.

Maybe some of the bands mentioned here are in the archive. I cant be bothered looking. Happy downloading.

There's also a great group out there called Kings of Convenience. Every album I've heard is quite nice. Their remix album versus is really excellent downtempo listening.

Everyone here should check out this band:

Oedipus

You can listen to all their debut album online, give is a go. You might like it.

I recommend just about all their songs, but in particular check out 'get','half a step' and 'around'
