I am about to download Skype on my iBook and just wanted to ask - does anyone know if an iBook bought in Feb 2005 will have a built in microphone or will I have to buy one of those usb phones to use Skype?

Are there any other options, e.g. a headset or free-standing microphone?

Thanks

They have a built-in microphone.

Check 2/3 of the way up to the right of the screen. Little hole? Microphone

Will check when I get home - don't have my Mac here.

Thanks for letting me know.

All white iBooks have a pinhole microphone as mattf described. It's a standard feature.

Bear in mind, though, that if you're using the built-in microphone and speakers, the "echo" effect may be unbearable for the person at the other end.

You might want to get a headset if you're going to be using Skype often. It really reduces the echo Bryson mentioned and generally really improves sound quality.

Yeah - I was thinking about that, although I don't like wearing headphones that much. I might get an external usb microphone.
