Here is one of my sister and I when I was a wee lad, on holidays in BC. I don't know how old I was. Anyway, the important thing to note is the remarkable sense of style. I make those socks work.

I see you had an early sense of what's important to hold on to in life, too.

There's no doubt whatsoever that's murbot...grabbing the mermaid boob.

Good grief, it's been a lifelong thing with him!

BTW, I was all about those socks too back in the day. I was obsessed with them, and getting as many colors as I could find (and beg my Mom to buy)...blue, red, green and yellow, in various stripe thicknesses. Every picture of me from about six to 11-years-old, there I am in tube socks up to my knees, some some of iron-on decal ringer T-shirt - "Starsky & Hutch" and, of course, a "Star Wars" character or two - and some sort of ridiculous pair of shorts (green with white piping, sky blue cut-offs, retina-scorching red with a drawstring, etc.).

I was a mess.

Oh hey! I hadn't noticed that. ()

Yeah, I always loved that picture. You could say it's been a lifelong obsession. heh

Yes, indeed. It was like a uniform. Summer shorts used to be school pants cut-offs.

Those socks were not all that high tech, were they. The cotton was hard, they lost their shape, the elastic used to give here and there. HOLES IN THE TOES. A fresh pack was always welcomed.

Play well? incredibly. I play fair to middling.
That one is kept under my desk and is never in a case so it's kind of stiff & wheezy 'til she gets loosened up. She's Italian.

I have to say, I had you pictured in such a different way, SKMDC. I thought, for some reason, you had short black hair and glasses. In my mind, I had you imagined as looking like one of the guys in Weezer. Or, for some reason, the actor Paul Rudd (with glasses).

It's interesting how you mentally build a look or impression of someone (I do this with radio DJs all the time), and when you finally see them, you realize how far off (or, in some cases, how close you were) from the real thing.

Cool hair! I used to have mine nearly that long back in my early 20's. Sometimes I think "I'll do it again, just for a nice change after 15 years of short", but I get impatient with that in-between "not really short/not really long/doesn't do anything but lay there" stage, and go whack it back down. Someday I might tough it out until it hits the "officially long" point!

I'll grow my hair - and full goatee/'stache - back out and go join a Wild West revue!

This is me with my bee-yatch.

Nice picture of you grabbing the mermaid's tit, Mur. We can see you were taught well from an early age.

This is what scientists believe murbot looks like today...

Spoiler (click to toggle):

Almost the perfect height, isn't she? All she needs now is a remote and a flat heat.

My old boss saw me and said "when I saw you last you looked like the dude, and now you look like Walter." and he bought me a fishing vest for Xmas. Which turns out to be very handy when there are babies about.

Great thread. I've 'known' some of you online for a few years now. Its nice, finally, to associate personalities with their faces.

As with some others around here, I am usually at the other end of the camera. I don't have much to choose from in pictures. This is one from a vacation my wife and took (without kids) a few years ago.
