It's decision time. For those of you who remember, Brad and I had the idea for "The Trail of Towers" many moon-y things ago. The idea was to create a project along the north side of the path behind Grey's park and fill it in with fun stuff. Jessyka built a tower in creative mode and I liked it enough that I thought she should build it in the Nova Map. It turned out so well that we discussed the idea of turning that stretch into a "Trail of Towers". Pick a lot, build a tower, have a contest.
So, now it's contest time. Which is the best one? You decide. However, you do not get to know who built what (please, if you know who built what keep it to yourself ). Also, we will have a naming contest. Each tower's name will be pulled from suggestions by the audience. Name each tower and the best names will be given to their respective towers. Come on, it'll be fun! Can't decide from Brad's renders? Dive into the map and have a look for yourself. Select from one of the towers below using 1-5 (where 1 is the farthest left, and 5 is the farthest right) - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. NOW, all of the towers are beautiful and have some real character to them.
#1 is full of verve. #2 is fascinating because of the water. #3 I confess to not exploring this one enough #5 is traditional, like an awesome shrine, and I like it a lot But.... I have REALLY liked #4 from the beginning and it's still my winner. I'm talking about the original version, mind you, because at that stage it was actually ART in that it challenged you. If you ran in without caution you immediately discovered that it was a horrifyingly long drop into the Void... an act which is totally the sort of thing that architecture-as-art can get away with. It was a mean building... a building that is aggressively bereft of real function. The current one has been modified to remove the danger of death and in doing so it lost that certain challenging edginess that good art can possess. {insert Reading Rainbow wrapup tune} ... |

I like all of them, especially REDACTED's "atom smasher" and REDACTED's "pagoda castle." It's hard to pick just one, but in the end I voted for Grey's. It's just so inventive
EDIT: forgot we weren't supposed to say who built what and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong Last edited by Robo : 2014-08-16 at 22:14. |

The best thing is that we had room for five buildings and wound up with five completely different styles. Good stuff.
Oh, and Grey was coming off a total acid trip when he built that thing. - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. We are smart, educated, capable, and helpful. We are also loaded with smart-alecks! :) - Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. (Mat 5:9) |

Grey sucking up to Jess will not prevent her from slaying you in cold blood in BattleNova™.
I tried it and it didn't work. Just you watch your back with that one! ... |

Alright, you too-busy-to-play poo-poo heads. Let's get on to naming these things. I've already tossed in my two-cents on the matter.
Stop what you're doing, hang up those phones, tell your customers to get lost and put that essay off till tomorrow and let's Name. Those.
