Hi

Hope someone can help, if I use a Mini DVI to HDMI cable to play movies off my Mac on my HDTV will the sound work? Or will i need extra cables?

on 3/15 (supposedly), you'll be able to buy this mini displayport to hdmi adapter from monoprice.

Rumor is, it'll take care of the audio connection too.

The question was about mini-dvi, not mini-displayport. DVI can't do sound, so I will also say NO to poster's question.

I basically asked the same question, but about the Mini-DisplayPort on this thread (http://forums.applenova.com/showthread.php?t=31534) and was given the same link you provided above. I'm going to be buying the mDP>HDMI when it comes out to write an article on my blog so I'll update my thread to let everyone know how it works after I get to play with it.

I read the "mini to hdmi" thing and thought of the part I linked... the ability of this part to put sound on hdmi has me all pumped 'cause I've been waiting with baited breath (whatever that means, but I'm sure my breath is baited 'cause I'm so excited!) for all the parts to come together for a mac mini entertainment hub... I jumped the gun.
