Hi AN'ers
I'm going to be performing my first usability test session and the lecturer has recommended software called Camtasia - which works on Windows only. camtasia link My question is: Does anybody know of software (preferably free or demo based) that can be used to record screen movements as the user navigates their way through a web site? My OS is 10.2.8 - but I believe the test machine will have Panther installed. As always, any help greatly appreciated. |

Snapz Pro 2.
http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/ that is THE shit. edit: thought you were only doing video recording. that other software has a lot of features that snapz pro does not. anyone else know of a video program that would do it? Hmm.
I suppose, depending on what you need to end up with, you could duplicate a lot of what the windows software does by taking your .mov output from Snapz Pro 2, and importing it into iMovie. Not sure though, that's just off the top of my head. |

Hey guys thanks for the quick responses.
I don't think the students will be doing anything fancy with "camtasia" - it's probably only going to be used for capturing the screen movements - in which case Snapz Pro 2 looks the goods. I'll download the demo and have a play around with it today. |

Not to be a nudge or anything, but alcimedes has the link right, but the name wrong - it's Snapz Pro X.
The only reason I mention it is because I mistakenly bought Snapz Pro 2 which won't run natively on OS X. |

Great app alcimedes - thanks for the tip ... this is worth paying for, definitely! (Snapz Pro X, - that is)
Why doesn't Apple include this as part of their OS? I mean, didn't it start out as a screen capture program to replace the standard Apple one? Surely Apple could have implemented this functionality into the OS. What gives? |

Also, yes FFL, if I need to do anything fancy I might be able to import the file into iMovie and add effects - but I don't think I'll be required to do so for this assignment. Thanks for the suggestion though.

now that you mention it, I seem to remember that ... doesn't seem to be on offer nowadays, though.
