I have a DVD I want to copy. It contains a TV show a friend has recorded on TV and the DVD has 2 folders on it : Video_TS and Audio_TS.
I am running Tiger so I have copied/pasted those folders in a "folder to burn". I have launched the burn process. In the end the new DVD is not readable either by OS X DVD player nor by my living room DVD player. The source DVD was read by both/ Any idea ? Many thanks ! iMacG5 20" 1stGen 1.8 GHz- 2Go - OSX 10.5.2 - iLife'08 - iWork'08 |

Roxio's Popcorn seems to be one of the best ways to burn VIDEO_TS folders into readable DVDs.

However, if you don't want to buy Toast Titanium/Popcorn, I'd just use Disk Utility to make a disc image of the DVD and then burn that image. It doesn't sound like the DVD you are trying to copy has any sort of copy protection, so Disk Utility should work fine.
I'll assume you know how to use Disk Utility, if not just ask, but I can't say what to do now. Gotta go pick up my sister! |

Thx ast3r3x, the disc image thing worked fine. Although I do not understand the difference between using a disc image and copying directely the folders/files, I do really thank you.

My guess is that the Finder burned it as a HFS+ disk, and not as a DVD.

faramirtook is correct, mostly. It's still a DVD regardless of the format, but most DVD players can only read DVDs formatted as UDF, Universal Disk Format. By default, the Finder burns as HFS+ and ISO-9660.
There are free programs available that will create UDF disk images for you on your Mac such as Disc Burner (though, it took me a couple tries to figure it out).
