Just curious - I've just realized that my Macbook Pro has recently fallen out of warranty without myself getting a chance to purchase Applecare. Do Apple allow for any sort of grace period beyond this period, or is that it for me?

I was told by an AppleCare rep that there is no grace period. You must buy the plan during the original term or forfeit the plan.
I registered my mom's MBP late but had purchased the APP one week before the year was up. They accepted the plan because I had a receipt proving that I bought it during the original coverage. I purchased a Macbook and AppleCare at the same time, but forgot to enroll. I called about two weeks after my original warrantee expired to see if they could still accommodate me. Because my AppleCare was on the same receipt as my Macbook, they allowed me to enroll.
You should try calling during regular business hours and see if you can work something out. |

There is no grace period. I made a big stink out of this a few years ago when I tried to buy AppleCare 3 days after my 1 year warranty expired, and I was contacted by a high ranking Apple customer service rep who told me that by law there could be no grace period.

Isn't the first year from the date of purchase kind of a grace period?

As has already been said it has to be bought in the first year
If [like a hell of a lot of people] you forget to register, Apple are very kind and will register it for you |
