I haven't messed around with automator yet, but from the automator actions I have seen available so far it looks like automator could be trouble
couldn't you conceivably make an automator action that sent out emails to everyone in your address book with that automator script attached to it. couldn't automator scripts also be used maliciously? of course i can only see it as a trojan horse type of file where ultimately the user has to choose to execute it. can an automator action replicate itself? |

Well, a trojan horse has to first be excecuted, as you said, and Mail.app doesn't automatically open emails or anything to the extent of Outlook. It'd be difficult, IMHO, to get it onto the computer in the first place.

No Automator isn't that dangerous because you can view the action and see exactly what it does. Macros are dangerous when you have no idea what they do.
