I am thinking of buying a nano, but I am somewhat hard
of hearing. In listening to my wife's iPod I must
push in the earbuds to properly hear the music.
(Her earbuds came with the iPod.) Are there
specific listening devices recommended for my problem?
I generally listen to classical music.

Do you wear a hearing aids? If so, then you will want to make sure you get to use to its full potential, depending on what type it is and what it can support.

If not, then I don't have any specific recommendation beyond getting a high quality earbuds.

Edit: Maybe this will give you a good idea of what would be considered good hearing systems; the two top ones are for use without hearing aids. I've heard good things about William Sounds; you could take a look at their website and find a local seller in your area.

HTH.

A friend of mine has the Etymotics ER-6 earphones, and he listens easily with the iPod's volume at about 1/3. Turning it up more for you might do the trick.

It's worth looking at earbuds that seal the ear canal from outside noises, I'd say.

the er4ps with the foam tips seal out 40dB of noise (more or less)... Foam tips are much better than the silicone tips for blocking out noise. The cheaper shures and etys tend to have the silicone dips if i remember correctly.. the tips on the er4ps are really big and do a great job.

I would look into sealing out outside noise as your number 1 buying factor. More importantly tt will probably make the biggest difference and reduce the chances of furthering your hearing loss which might occur at higher volumes with buds that don't block out as much noise.
