A friend is looking to do a better job of backing up his system files. I've made a chart of what I *think* he ought to do and I'm putting it out here for discussion and advice so that I can pass it along to him the next time we speak.

Ah, this diagram doesn't take into account a video-editing drive, separate from the other working files. I'm not enjoying being a system engineer, I may tell my friend he needs professional help.

For $5 a month they can get an account with iDrive which would allow them to upload up to 150GB to an offsite location.
I'd do what you've proposed above, but have everything short of the massive video files backed up to an offsite location, in case of theft/fire etc. Google is your frenemy. Caveat Emptor - Latin for tough titty I tend to interpret things in the way that's most hilarious to me |
