Looking to pickup a new small laser printer (HP1012). I use primarily use Illustrator and Quark. In the old days, a my Postscript HP LaserJet 4MP served me well.

But now under OSX, and TrueType/Open Type fonts, is postscript still necessary? Logically I'm thinking yes since Illustrator is still based on Postscript.

however.....
if that's the case, why does my lowly inkjet printer (non-PS) print Illustrator files perfectly without jaggies? Yet it looks like crap when it prints out of QuarkXpress.
