I've just about had it with Vuescan. I bought it since it's got drivers for my HP Photosmart C4280 and I hate HP's stuff. OS X didn't have drivers built in. Anyway, I've been "scanning" this one sheet of paper for about 20 minutes now. Are you kidding me??!? What a slow piece of shit this program is... Anyway, is there any chance that there's something better out there?

I used Image Capture exclusively on my old (and I mean old) Epson scanner, however I also got a HP Photosomart (Mine's a C6200 series).
Although the HP Scan Pro software seems to forget where my printer is now and again (Even though it's on a fixed IP), it generally works quite well. OK, I have given up keeping this sig up to date. Lets just say I'm the guy that installs every latest version as soon as its available! |

On my old Epson, Image Capture worked but it doesn't find my HP. IC worked great. It was fast and did a more than passable job. I'm thinking of dumping the HP for one that has built-in drivers.
