After a year and a half of problem-free flying, my MacBook Pro's right fan crapped out. I have the extended AppleCare (thank god), so now the question is where I get it repaired. I'm in the metro Boston area, which usually means that I'd have to take it to the Apple Store at CambridgeSide, who are then going to send it to Texas for repairs. (I'm fairly certain they don't do laptop repair in-house; they're too small for that.)

However, there's an authorized Apple shop in town that services machines under AppleCare, and they do repairs in-house, meaning I'd get a faster turn-around. My question to you guys is -- would the repair at the auhorized shop be equally free? Because I wouldn't have to pay a penny for the repair at the Apple Store.

Any ideas?

Applecare related repairs, even at an authorized repair shop, should covered by Apple.

Also - repairs not covered by AppleCare are usually cheaper at 3rd party authorized repair centres.
