Does the diploma have any kind of legal status? If not, I'd tell them to get fucked.

Those who require 'documented proof' of graduation from high school will want to see official transcripts, not a diploma. Especially in 'this' day and age, it would be easy to whip up a diploma on one's computer. So, though this piece of paper is lovely to look at, and nice to hang on the wall, I don't think it would be all that useful for, say, applying to a university. It might be useful for applying for an entry-level job at some local company. Yeah, I read the article this morning and thought the action seemed excessive - *until* I read the background on what had happened the prior year. Some audience members turned into an unruly mob and basically destroyed the ceremony for the normal, well-behaved family members. In view of that, I can understand why stern measures were taken. Obviously, they were taken against the graduates themselves, which seems incredibly unfair. But what's the alternative? The school has the ability to discipline its own students, not visiting family members. Oh well. *shrug* Perhaps signs could be posted at entrances to the ceremony location, warning that those who disrupt the ceremony will be removed and detained at the police station. |

What they did doesn't irk me all that much considering the background, but requiring them to do community service to get their diplomas now is way out of line and possibly illegal.

However... maybe they could say: the punishment is X number of hours of community service, and those hours can be served by the people who actually did the cheering, instead of the graduate. Would you go along with that? |

OMG!!! Sewage awash in the aisles on an overseas Continental flight? How UNbelievably disgusting.
Turns out, it was thanks to some anal-retentive passenger who felt compelled to wear latex gloves in the bathroom, and then flushed the gloves, despite warnings NOT to flush foreign objects. And it sounds like he probably flushed gloves multiple times. Jeez. Link Quote:
I guess that's a sort of karmic revenge, wouldn'tya say? Oh, and note that the flight took off on the 13th. |

I came here to post THAT story, Windswept. Dis-Gus-Ting. Flight Attendant: Quick, get the pooper-scooper and a few rolls of paper towels. By the by, I saw the story on FoxNews.com, where I visit once or week or so for a laugh. Here were the three HEADLINE stories just now (with real headlines): 1. Toilet Terror at 30,000 Feet 2. Missing Mom Search Suspended 3. Thrill Ride Tragedy Yes, people: We Report, You Decide. |

Just... wow.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6245112.stm They would never run that story in that way, in this country. Our delicate sensibilities might be offended... and now back to reality television. ...into the light of a dark black night. |

Wow. This wrestling story is getting 'extra' weird.
Apparently someone posted a comment on wikipedia about his wife's death 13 hours before police found the bodies. Link Quote:

Omg!
That's one of the worst things I've ever read... in the 'senseless injury' category. Fed intravenously for the rest of her life, and she's only six years old? Can't they eventually do an intestinal transplant? I mean, if they can transplant lungs, you'd think they'd be able to do intestines too. |
