Interesting article at MacRumors...

MacBook Air and 'MacBook' With M2 Chips Slated for Launch Later This Year

This part jumped out:

As for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 9to5Mac claims that Apple could drop the "Pro" labeling, referring to the new machine as just "MacBook" as it has done in the past.
Seems I've heard that suggested somewhere.

I can see them going with a two-model or three-model MacBook lineup. It depends on how they price/position/name things, I suppose.

It'll be nice to eventually see what they're going to do with all that. They've got several viable approaches/options...I know which one I prefer.

I heard the New MacBooks Pro will be called ToledoBook.

I'll ban post a link when it becomes necessary.

They're going to have to do something in that space.

They've bypassed two opportunities to do a name-change already - the 14"/16" MacBook Pro event and this past Tuesday. I know a name change is "easy", but in addition to the devices themselves, it also means new packaging and documentation. Maybe they're just holding off on all that until the lineup gets a processor update, and just do it all in one efficient, logistically sensible move...name change, new packaging/documentation/marketing materials, website update, M2 processor, Touch Bar removal(?), camera tweak (Center Stage), etc.

There's nothing at all wrong with that 13" M1 MacBook Pro other than having an inaccurate, confusing name. Fix that and all is well. It sits nicely between the fanless, entry-level Air and the $1,999+ Pro models.

I'm on the Intel version of that model right this moment (13" Retina MacBook Pro)...a great machine in terms of portability + usable screen size.

This may appeal/be of interest to some folks here...

Apple now selling refurbished 14" and 16" M1 Pro and M1 Max-based MacBook Pros.

Took just over five months...that's about right. Refurbs of a new release always seem to hit around the 4-5 month mark. So, going by that, we should start to see Mac Studio refurbs showing up in late-July/August timeframe, 4-5 months after their March 8 announcement (and March 18 availability).

PS - I'm going to assume the above is legit news and not some stupid April Fool's thing from MacRumors? If so, go yell at them...

UPDATE: It's legit, I just checked. 14" models are going for $1,799, with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD...$200 off their new pricing of $1,999 (and the same $1,799 the Intel-based 13" models were going for six months ago before the new 14" and 16" were rolled out. A great price...same as it once was, for a hell-of-a-lot-more machine!
