Me, I'm hiding from the drunks and marathoning Battlestar Galactica.

Met up for a trivia match (I know...), got home a little while ago. Staying in, taking it easy...avoiding the drunks, cops, amateur nighters, etc. Warm and cozy here in my place, my bed is 10 feet away, etc. I made the right choice this year. I simply wasn't in a "loud and crowd" mood. In fact, I may not even make it another 40 minutes for the midnight thing. Besides, it's not really all that special or meaningful when you're doing it solo, like I am this year.

Since we're now past midnight in the time zone that really counts,
I'm going to shamelessly hijack this thread to wish everyone at 'Nova a Happy and Blessed New Year. |

We took down the tree ornaments and boxed them up, fiddled through the lights trying not to break one (goddamn string-lights…GAH), and tomorrow morning we're bringing the itchy motherfucker outside to be recycled.
That said. Best tree ever So it goes. |

Truth be told, it's been really nice to spend a New Years Day feeling good (no "day after" regrets/hangover). I've been out and about since 10am, running errands, a bit of grocery shopping, etc. I've had a spring in my step (and a clearness to my eyes) that often isn't there on the day after. I DEFINITELY made the right choice last night. I'm so glad I didn't go full-tilt and carry on until 4am like I've done a bit in the past.
Playing music with some friends tonight, just sitting around with acoustics and singing, so that'll be fun. And I'm totally in the mood/up for it and won't be all draggy and wobbly. For once in my life, I actually kinda thought ahead and told myself "you'll enjoy Wednesday night more if you don't totally act like a raging nutball New Year's Eve...". |

Like drewprops, I was sick as a dog, though thankfully without a fever. I think that lack of fever sealed my fate: out at a friend’s place until four in the morning.
On the plus side: good food and even pretty decent champagne. On the down side: my friends are getting married and having kids and even buying apartments, though they still look (to me) like kids pretending to be adults. I am doing none of those things, though I’m not against the first two in principle. It’s somewhat unsettling even though I can defend my choices with gusto. Happy new year to you lot, regardless! Hope you have a good one. … engrossed in such factional acts as dreaming different dreams. |

There used to be a hilarious year end montage on YouTube poking fun at the news stories of the year.
Can't remember the name of the studio, and haven't seen it for awhile. Is it still around? |
