Hey all,
So I've owned my iBook 2004 (g4 1ghz) since December 2004. In order, since I have owned it, the hard drive, power adapter, keyboard, main logic board and hard drive (just got it back yesterday) have been replaced. Come to find out, my USB port (rear) doesn't provide enough power, so they're shipping me another box today. So I have to wonder, with an out-of-warranty MLB repair running $300 (I'm sure a good chunk of that is profit), how much is this costing Apple? If they had tested the board before shipping it out (I recognize that they outsource their repairs, luckily there is a repair facility in TN, and I'm in MO, so it's close), this wouldn't be an issue. When my Applecare runs out (In December 2007, , what does Apple want me to do, just throw it out and buy a new Macbook? What are some of your horror stories, if you have any. I do appreciate how nice Apple has been throughout the ordeal, and hopefully in 2 weeks I'll have a fresh, working iBook back in my hands. ~ K EDIT: And I just realized, this might go better in Apple Discussion, Oops. 1 ghz iBook G4 w/768 MB of RAM, 30 GB HD 30 GB 5th Gen Ipod Athlon 2000+ w/512 MB of RAM, 1x 120 GB HD, 1x 250 GB HD Last edited by Krientle : 2006-09-13 at 10:40. I was in KC when it broke down a two weeks ago (girlfriend lives about 5 minutes away from an Apple Store). I unfortunately live about an hour and a half away from Saint Louis, which has the closest Apple Store. I'm not going to drive 90 minutes both ways to drop off a laptop so that they can box it up and send it to the same place.
Thanks. ~ K 1 ghz iBook G4 w/768 MB of RAM, 30 GB HD 30 GB 5th Gen Ipod Athlon 2000+ w/512 MB of RAM, 1x 120 GB HD, 1x 250 GB HD |

Well, I just noticed that I'm missing a footie on my iBook, so I call up Apple and I say "what's up?". They say, we can send you a footie pack, but you'll have to pay $6.50 in shipping and handling.
Unbelievable. If I get my iBook back in worse condition then I got it, after sending it in again...I'm going to be upset. Though I guess there really is nothing I can do, is there. After all, I have to rely on Apple to honor their warranty. ~ K 1 ghz iBook G4 w/768 MB of RAM, 30 GB HD 30 GB 5th Gen Ipod Athlon 2000+ w/512 MB of RAM, 1x 120 GB HD, 1x 250 GB HD |

That's not the point. It's a box, with 4 rubber footies. And it's not my fault that the footie isn't there.
EDIT: My bad, looks like the footy was just loose and fell on the floor when I put it on my desk (there's a few inches of space between my desk and my wall). +1 Apple -1 Krientle. Guess the technician didn't push it in all the way cause I've never had this problem before. ~ K 1 ghz iBook G4 w/768 MB of RAM, 30 GB HD 30 GB 5th Gen Ipod Athlon 2000+ w/512 MB of RAM, 1x 120 GB HD, 1x 250 GB HD Last edited by Krientle : 2006-09-13 at 19:54. |
