Laboring endlessly to get this OS to work... (What's the benefit of OSX again?) I am stumped by my epson scanner.

I couldn't download drivers from epson site (nor for printing, odd), so got some drivers from Version Tracker here:

Unfortunately, it didn't really work. In photoshop (v.4 running in classic) the scanner is still unrecognized. In the OS I used the scanner utility, which was very primitive, but still... it did produce one scan, but then the scanner went haywire, with the scanning head running into a limit (physically to the end of its track) and not stopping nor returning to rest. I had to turn the scanner off fearing hardware damage.

Anybody have experience with this scanner in OSX?
