Ok so this guy (Crazy Jon) hooked up TWELVE 30 inch dell monitors on a blank wall with SIX Geforce 7900 GTX vid cards and three 1000 Watt power supplies. On top of that on his regular desk he has five 30 inch Apple Cinema Displays!!
Is this not the most crazy home computer set up ever?? http://gadgets.qj.net/Wall-O-Monitor...g/49/aid/21281 The funny thing is since there are so many Dell monitors each one looks kinda small haha |

Virginia Tech has a similar setup using Apple 30" displays (same panel as the Dells) in one of their visualization labs.

The high rez projector wouldn't be nearly as high resolution as this is... Projectors come in, what, up to 1280x1024? This setup is the equivelent of 7680x6400. That's huge! (Edit: which btw is 49,152,000 pixels!)

I guess TigerWoods99's girlfriend finally came out of her coma and he posted his computer setup online.
I'll be damned. (edit: apparently the half life for internet jokes is a lot shorter than 4 years, apologies). Google is your frenemy. Caveat Emptor - Latin for tough titty I tend to interpret things in the way that's most hilarious to me |

I really want a 1080p projector, but I don't even want to know how expensive they are.
Heck, I want a 1080p set, period. I'm pretty convinced that, after all the dust settles, 1080p will be "the" high definition. But now, they're still pretty expensive. and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong |

I don't want to steer this thread off course, but the Ruby can be had for about $7500 online. The H81's MSRP will be $10,000 to begin with, so it should street at around $9000 after about a month.
Maybe we should resurrect the HD thread in General Discussion. |

Ouch. I figured they were expensive, but those prices surprise me. I'm torn, because I'd love a projector, and they are getting more economical (on the lower end, anyway), but I also don't want "sort-of-HD." If I'm dropping a ton of cash (for me, anyway) on a nice TV set, I'm not sure if I'd want to "settle" for 720p. and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong |

Anyway, I'm going to go start a high definition thread, so we don't steer this one *more* off-topic. |
