I know we are just two months in to the iPad's run for device supremacy, but eMagazines seem to be one of the highlight apps to show off the iPads capabilities and having downloaded several, got me wondering. With all these publications trying to outdo each other to gain relevance in a digital medium are the unique interfaces they are coming up with making it somewhat confusing when we go to read them?

In the app store you find everything from Zinio which is really just a magazine in PDF formate with some links and vids added, to TIME, PopSci+, WIRED and even the yet released Popular Mechanics. All using their own pixel pushing UI, but there's something to be said about the feeling of good old page turning. No matter what magazine, book, newspaper or catalog you know what to do, just turn the page.

So I guess what I'm asking is do you guys think we are causing a form of UI confusion when it comes to these eMags? What should be easy to navigate thru and read IMO has become a little exercise in what app am I in? oh I have to the this gesture for that and oh that's WIRED mag, I can't do that in Popular Mechanic.

Not a deal breaker by any means, but it can be a bit annoying at times.
