you know what you first save a document you name it and say where you want to save it and junk, is there any way to save to a specific custom folder rather than the preselected areas they give you in the dropdown menu. just something i had in microsoft office for windows that i actually miss.

also, i cant edit anything while doing a save as, like on windows while i was doing a save as, i could move around other files and rename stuff. are there third-party mods that enable this on the finder. i know this is just an issue with the mac finder not for office but this is actually something i miss from windows lol.

thanks

It has nothing to do with MS Office, it's how all the default save dialogs work in Mac OS X. To choose your own location, press the blue arrow to the right of where you choose what to name it.

It took me a bit to figure that out, when I started with Macs. No shame.

It's really common, in fact I don't know why Apple don't make it open by default.

My dad was getting really pissed off because he was having to save all is files into Documents then move them where he wanted them with the Finder. He was doing this for a nearly a year.

It's not completely obvious what that button is (it's just a triangle), some people (like my dad) are nervous of playing about with stuff they don't know (especially when it comes to file operations)

The button should be down on the second line along with the destination selector thingy.

How's this for an office Quirk: when I launch Entourage 2004, the title bar says "Mail 2". WTF?!

OK so I figured it out... Every time I launched Entourage, it opened two Mail windows, one right behind the other, and I was looking at teh second. *shakes head* I need more sleep. Anyway, you would think, since it's not a "document" you're looking at, that it would say "Entourage" but I guess that's too logical.
