Okay, whenever I go to use iTunes now on my Compaq Presario running XP, iTunes 'encounters an error and has to close'. This is so frekin' annoying- like you wouldn't believe.

I'm using iTunes 6 (not sure which version), on XP on a nearly 3 year old Compaq Presario . Recently we has to do a system restore, and had everything wiped. I reinstalled iTunes, and bam it won't work, popping up this error every time without fail.

I have restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled and done all sorts of things.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If possible post what the error message says as I have to use a PC daily and use iTunes on it and maybe able to offer suggestions or if possible how to fix the problem.

Also could you post some specs eg: ram, processor speed and anything else that you may think could be of use.

I will help get it sorted with you

Thanks.

The error message says:

iTunes
iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

Blah blah blah.

I have a Compaq Presario with an AMD Athlon 2200, 1.8 GHz proc., 256MB RAM, and 40gig HD.
iTunes is the version that came with my iPod, 6.0.5 I think.

Again, thanks.

iFerret, is your nick a noun, or a verb?

iFerret, have you updated XP with the latest patches too? You may also want to upgrade iTunes to the latest version as well, perhaps enough to fix itself.

Scratt: iDunno. Either way really.

LudwigVan: No, I haven't- but I will do both.

Thanks.
