I had a grape soda yesterday out of the bottle (not Fanta) and it was damn good. No "Jimbo likes Soda!" sign of course but while we are on the subject. Got the soda at Pot Belly's but don't remember the brand. It was really frickin tasty. Not like that super-sweet chemically taste other grape sodas have. Love me some grape soda... haven't had me none in years, boss!

Could it have been Stewart's?
I buy their root beer anytime I see it. They truly do have the best soda. No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

I'm a big fan of Jones soda, though I don't know if they make grape... I usually go for their cream soda.
In any case, I saw Tropic Thunder last night. It was funny, although I'm pretty girly and there were a couple things that were too gory/over the top for me. (The PANDA. POOR PANDA.) But they worked for the movie, so I don't think they should've left them out or anything. |

Stewart's is all over the Philly area. I probably take it for granted because I can get it anytime I want. There are places to order it online, but the shipping seems to be pretty expensive. No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

I love how off topic this thread has become.
I think it may have even gotten better than the original topic? |

Maybe a mod can break this out to a cool Stewart soda thread? Because I just visited their site and I'm sitting here smacking my lips...
The Orange 'n' Cream and the Black Cherry are both calling my name! |

I love the Orange Cream and Key Lime, but nothing beats Virgil's for root beer or cream soda. Most every place carries Stewart's here in NW Ohio, and I'm fairly certain the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain carries a few types of Stewart's nationally.
EDIT: Yup, they do. Cracker Barrel has both the Regular and Diet Root Beer, Orange n' Cream, and Grape at every location, both on the menu and in the store in front. Authentic Nova Scotia bagpipe innards Last edited by RowdyScot : 2008-08-20 at 23:50. |

I love my Santa Cruz organic root beer. Unlike most organic stuff, it's the same price as the regular stuff regular ($0.99 a can), but it's not so syrupy and sweet as most root beers, which I love. They sell it at Loblaws here in Toronto, in case anyone here want's to give it a try.

Stewart's is indeed the most delicious grape soda...though I'll admit I have an enormous weakness for both Grape and Strawberry flavored sodas. It's also part of the hangover panacea, which also includes eggs benedict (w/slab bacon), and ibuprofen.
For root beer, my two favorites are 1919, and Sprecher's. Both definitely worth a shot if you haven't had them. Seen a man standin' over a dead dog lyin' by the highway in a ditch He's lookin' down kinda puzzled pokin' that dog with a stick |

What's cream soda taste like? I've never had it, but I see it and I've always wondered. Is it a specific, recognizable flavor? Vanilla or something?
I'm not a huge root beer drinker (in fact, I really don't like it at all). But about once a year, out of the blue, I'll get a weird craving for it and I'll have 4-5 bottles in the space of a couple of days. And then I won't want anymore again for a long time. I expect that craving to hit at some point soon because, so far, it hasn't in 2008... I always feel weird about drinking a root beer while driving, simply because they usually make the bottle a dark brown (like a real beer bottle) and I'll be driving down the road guzzling one and I always get the sense that the people beside me are looking over at me in a disapproving fashion. I always want to roll my window down and yell "it's a root beer, I swear!" I bet cops hate it. I wonder how many people they've pulled over, only to discover it was an IBC or A&W bottle? They'll probably start doing what the toy gun people have done, and put some bright orange or pink band around the top of the bottle neck so cops and others can tell it's not a real beer. Actually, I'm kinda surprised, knowing how things like this go, that it hasn't been done already... "Think of the chiddren, Mr. Speaker..." |

Cream soda has a strong vanilla flavor, without any other flavors to distract. I love it.

It isn't cream soda unless it's a rich golden brown, either. The clear stuff is flavored water.
